Venue

Warsaw

Warsaw, the capital of Poland, is also its largest city. It is a scientific, cultural, and political centre, where both, a multitude of monuments and museums, University of Warsaw and the National Parliament are located. Currently, it is one of the most dynamically developing capitals in Europe. The city is located in central Poland and is crossed by the Vistula River. Warsaw was founded in the XII century and has been the capital since the XVII century. Since 1573, the free elections of the king have been held in Warsaw, giving impetus to Polish early democratic traditions. Subsequently, the city became residence of the kings and, later, the Polish government. The most recognizable symbol of the city is the Mermaid of Warsaw, who is said to protect her city, armed with a sword and a shield.
